My dream job is to be a world-class cardio surgeon, and to get there, I need to first graduate high school top of my class. I need to be as well-rounded and get the highest grades I possibly can these next three years to hopefully graduate as Valedictorian or Salutatorian class of 2019. After, I plan on going to one of the prestigious Ivy League schools, Brown University and major in Chemistry (with emphasis in pre-med). Then, to become a doctor, I need to go to Medical School, hopefully at Stanford University, and graduate top 10 in my class there. Afterwards, I'd like to move to Massachusetts and work at Mass Gen. and begin my career with many successful surgeries, innovative techniques/ breakthroughs, and case studies. These achievements will symbolize my success and the impact I will have made in the medical field which is my ultimate goal in my professional life.

Jerome Kerviel is a French Capitalistic Villain who ran several unauthorized trades worth 5 billion euros and manipulated "an already severely flawed financial system". To some, including his cult-like fan base, he was a modern day Robin Hood from humble beginnings, but to the rest of the disarrayed population, he's "history’s single-largest trade fraudster".
"Sympathetic, French-speaking readers may want to help Mr. Kerviel pay back the 4.9 billion euros he owes the bank by ordering his memoir. In the meantime, he is planning to appeal." The entry level position for a Cardio-thoracic Surgeon would most likely be a General Surgeon Resident.
Team-oriented Medical Simulation (TOMS) "The first hour of TOMS training consists of a pre-briefing that highlights relevant teamwork concepts such as situational awareness, communication, and decisionmaking. The second hour is devoted to simulated laparoscopic and anesthetic procedures, using a life-like mannequin with live abattoir organs to simulate surgery. The third hour consists of a team-led debriefing that uses videotaped examples of the team’s own performance to diagnose problems and identify strategies for improvement." "MedTeams is a system of teamwork training and organizational change that focuses on behavioral solutions to the problem of patient safety and to the delivery of improved patient care. Based on a set of teamwork principles that are widely used in crew resource management (CRM) programs in military and commercial aviation, MedTeams is now being implemented as a performance and safety solution in emergency care. The results, details of which may be found in Morey et al., demonstrated the effectiveness of the MedTeams system. Improvements were obtained in the experimental group for six out of the seven key measures assessed. The quality of team behaviors improved, workload was not increased by practicing teamwork, staff attitudes towards teamwork were enhanced, preparation of patients for admission from the ED improved, and the proportion of highly satisfied patients increased. The most important finding from the validation was that clinical errors were substantially and significantly reduced. A clinical error was defined as any clinical task that actually or potentially put a patient at risk. These errors were witnessed by a specially trained emergency center nurse or physician observing cases for the purpose of rating teamwork behaviors." "The primary purpose of DOM is to increase patient safety, reduce medical errors, and improve the quality of health care by improving trainees’ skills in team-building, recognizing adverse situations, counteracting the effects of stress and fatigue, communicating, and decisionmaking. DOM provides interdisciplinary team training to surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists. The program draws heavily on CRM training from aviation25 and was developed by Crew Training International (CTI). CTI (http://www.cti-crm.com) recently renamed DOM LifewingsTM (http://www.saferpatients.com). DOM, which is quite similar to MedTeams and to MTM, includes 8 hours of classroom-based, interactive training that incorporates facilitated discussion, role playing, case studies, behavior modeling, and knowledge testing.25 During the 8- hour session, two highly trained CTI instructors (typically former pilots) lead participants through strategies for building an effective team. These techniques include recognition of adverse situations, recommendations for managing conflict constructively, guidance for mitigating the effects of stress, training in decisionmaking skills, recommendations for providing effective performance feedback, and principles for mitigating the effects of fatigue.25 To reinforce the principles of DOM training, CTI developed a “challenge and response checklist,” which trainees are required to use in the OR." (http://www.ahrq.gov/downloads/pub/advances/vol4/Baker.pdf)
"The Air Force developed MTM training specifically in response to an incident at an Air Force facility in which poor teamwork led to a neurologically impaired newborn. Similar to MedTeams, the primary purpose of MTM is to reduce medical errors, in this case by teaching human-factors concepts to interdisciplinary teams of medical professionals. A secondary purpose is to change the military's traditional medical culture, which focuses on individual performance, an emphasis that creates communication barriers. In contrast, MTM specifically fosters a culture that values team performance and encourages effective communication. Its theoretical position is that this new culture will facilitate teamwork, thereby reducing errors." "The MTM training program has two major components: a three-day train-the-trainer course and a medical treatment facility course. Upon completing the train-the-trainer course, graduates return to their respective medical facilities to train the remaining staff in teamwork principles. 21 The MTM curriculum includes an introduction to the program, overviews of key patient safety and CRM issues, and specific modules for seven team skills (Table 1). Case studies, vignettes, and tools are interspersed throughout the curriculum to reinforce the importance of effective teamwork." (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK20580/)
Airtime for the Super Bowl costed $5 million for 30 seconds. My favorite commercial from the Super Bowl was the Marilyn Monroe Snickers commercial because it was a cute commercial about what you look like before and after eating a snickers which is great marketing for the product. The halftime show starred Bruno Mars, Beyonce, and Coldplay and was packed with the crowd on teh field, lots of movement and energy, and great costumes and projection. Although the performers were playing towards the camera instead of the crowd, it was still an entertaining show. Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers wore Under Armour gold cleats. And Bruno Mars's crew sported Nike sneakers--
The ALS Association spread awareness of the ALS disease by trending their hashtags which promote awareness and create a fun, summer-friendly challenge for everyone. #ALSIceBucketChallenge.
Through Social Media, 17 million people doused themselves in freezing cold water and donated well over $100 million to find a cure. These videos were watched by 440 million people over 1 billion times. Now, since 2014 they have made the tradition every August to challenge franchises and donors to raise money to #ChallangeALS. "Throughout the month [of August] , each Major League Club will host its own ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and will then challenge another franchise, along with two other local personalities or organizations, to participate in the charitable effort. MLB is also donating $100,000 to The ALS Association. The funds will be used to further collaborative efforts among several ALS organizations to find treatments and a cure for the disease. MLB is also encouraging fans to consider donating to support the ALS community at ALSIceBucketChallenge.org." The post Kelly left on Facebook is about her dissatisfaction of tips she earns at her job.
‘If you come into a restaurant and spend $50 or more, you should be able to tip appropriately for that,' According to the Huffington Post, a friend of hers on Facebook screenshotted a picture of Kelly's post and angrily showed it to the manager, believing the post was about her. Promptly, Kirsten was fired, but is confused as to why and claims that her employer had no right in firing her due to the 1st Amendment of the Constitution. Others claim that "She knows the people, they have mutual friends on FB. Did she not think her post would be seen? She probably could have gotten away with a little rant, but to post a derogatory name was going too far." "Kumon is the world’s largest after school learning program, designed to give kids academic advantage."
Kumon Learning Centers "was created by a dad who wanted the best for his son." He wanted his son, Takeshi to develop a love of learning and to master new concepts before continuing to the next subject. By doing this, his son was prepared for rigorous high school and college exams. Many parents took notice of how unique Kumon's self-learning step-by-step method improved his son's cognitive thinking which grew to the franchise dedicated to helping young minds. It costs between $64,187 and $134,100 to start a franchise in a considered location. There are many steps before you can open the doors of the new franchise location because the board that gives the ultimate decision has to consider your credibility, how dedicated you are to the program, and if you share the same passion and values. On top of that, training is required and there are many upfront fees that have to come out of your pocket before you can get any of the business's revenue. I would probably start this franchise because this company values the education and successful development of each individual student. They only hire the most qualified tutors to assist and support each child as they improve their cognitive abilities. Even though the price to own a franchise is pricey, I believe that it would be worth it because every parent wants the best for their child, and not every child is a natural-born genius, so there will always be revenue. http://www.kumonfranchise.com/ ![]() Henry Ford- From: Dearborn, Michigan Born: July 30, 1863 Died: April 7, 1947 Background: Grew up on his father's farm in Dearborn in an ordinary household situation. He soon partnered with Alvah C. Roebuck and established a new catalog business, A. C. Roebuck & Company. "In 1893, A.C. At this time, the Sears, Roebuck catalog ran nearly 200 pages and sold such goods as sewing machines, saddles and musical instruments. Now, Sears has the net profit of $208 million. |
